Style Maniac Readers Choice: Best Beach Books 2014

Beaches & Books.  For me, the two are completely intertwined (add an umbrella and you've got my #threemagicalwords for summer).  How about you?  What's your favorite book to read at the beach?  Please share titles for sun and surf, or lazy rainy days, in Style Maniac's Readers Choice: Best Beach Books 2014.  Simply add your selection in the Comments.  As always, I'll list your picks in the Style Maniac Amazon Boutique.  I also welcome suggestions for wonderful independent bookstores (add names here and links on Style Maniac's Facebook Page).  Looking forward to reading your favorite summer stories!

Hi Doreen! What a great idea! Let's see... The Dog Year by Anne Garvin and The Goodluck Girls of Shipwreck Lane by Kelly Harms have been two of my favorite fun beach reads this summer. Right now, I'm reading The Keepers of the House by Shirley Anne Grau. Maybe not a "beach read," but am loving it all the same! My hometown of Salisbury,NC has The Literary Bookpost, which is so charming and chock full of wonderful books! (And employees who've read them!) I also have a soft spot for McIntyre's Books in Fearrington Village in Chapel HIll, NC. I went to UNC and that was one of my favorite, cozy getaway bookshops. There's nothing like a good indy bookstore! Thanks for letting me share! Can't wait to see the list! xo Kristy

Doreen,
What a nice way to share. I am going to read "Not A Drill--by Lee Child(A Jack Reacher Short
story). Then "The Heist"--Daniel Silva's story of a spy looking for a masterpiece. Then #3 "Point of Direction"--Rachel Weaver's story of a girl hitchhiking through Alaska. She gets picked up by a man in a pick-up truck. They agree to be caretakers of an old lighthouse. I just read Killing Kennedy and enjoyed that. We have a small bookstore behind Food Lion at Sunset Beach, NC. The owner and clerks are all so knowledgeable about all books. I order a lot from Amazon for my Kindle. My hometown was Chapel Hill, NC, needless to say there were several good bookstores there. Thanks again for the great blogs. Elizabeth Naughton

My choice is easy: "Vintage" a novel by my friend Susan Gloss. See next post for a chance to win her charming book, centered on a vintage clothing store in Madison, Wisconsin and the lives and loves of the women who work and shop there.

A good beach read is "The Rosie Project" by Graeme Simsion, off beat funny love story. I also recently enjoyed reading "The Splendour Falls" by Susanna Kearsley and "Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes (get out the tissue box for it).
